Metode takhrij yang ketiga ini berlandaskan pada perawi pertama suatu hadits, baik perawi tersebut dari kalangan sahabat bila sanad haditsnya bersasmbung kepada Nabi (Muttashil), atau dari kalangan tabi’in jika hadits tersebut mursal. Sebagai langkah pertama adalah mengenal terlebih dahulu mengenal perawi pertama setiap hadits yang akan kita takhrij melalui kitab-kitabnya. Langkah selanjutnya mencari nama perawi pertama dalam kitab-kitab itu. Dan kemudian mencari hadits yang kita inginkan di antara hadits-hadits yang tertera di bawah nama perawi pertamanya itu.
